What types of images can VMP accept?

VMP can accept most image formats including JPEG, BMP, TIFF, TGA, PDF, GIF, PNG.

As a general rule, we prefer digital files to hard copies. However, if you only have a hard copy of your image available, then VMP can scan the image and create a digital version.

If the artwork is being supplied by your graphic artist, then the original layered graphics are preferable. These may include Illustrator (AI or EPS), Photoshop (PSD) or Indesign (INDD) files.

*Additional information for graphic designers - If NO changes are required to text, please convert the text to paths / outlines, so that the original font style is maintained. If you DO need us to make changes to the text, then please provide the font files (TTF). Also note that we prefer PC compatible files. For further information, contact VMP - 07 3392 0009.

What size should my images be?

Your production may require the use of images such as photographs, illustrations or logos. The size of your images will generally depend on the type of production we are creating for you.

For VIDEO ...
If you require the use of images for a video production, a good image size for standard video is 800 x 600 pixels. However, if your video will be WIDESCREEN, then you will require a wider image. A good size image for widescreen is 1200 x 600 pixels, or at least 1200 pixels wide.

The same recommendations apply if you require images for a DVD menu.

The resolution of images for video only needs to be 72 DPI.

For WEB ...
If you require the use of images for a web or multimedia production, a good image size for this purpose is minimum 800 x 600 pixels. Then we can adjust the image size as required.

The resolution of images for video only needs to be 72 DPI.

For PRINT ...
As a general rule for print, the larger the image ... the better!

For photographs, we recommend that you supply the largest size available on disc. For artwork such as logos, we prefer the original artwork file - see IMAGE FORMATS for more information. For further information, contact VMP - 07 3392 0009.

The resolution of images for print should be 300 DPI.

For DISC ARTWORK ...
As a discface or jacket cover is classified as a print production, the same rules as above
generally apply. If you require a DVD discface or jacket cover, the templates provided at the top of this page will give you a good indication of the size of the final printed artwork.

If you are familiar with Photoshop, then you can download the templates provided, create your own artwork over the templates, then simply email the completed Photoshop file to vmp@vmp.com.au

What other information can I provide to help VMP complete my production?

The production of any video, television commercial, website, multimedia CD or print production is a collaborative effort. These are some questions that may help you better communicate your requirements to us here at VMP:

Who am I trying to reach with my production?

What do I want to show my audience? What do I NOT want to show my audience?

What response do I want my audience to have after seeing / using my product?

Do I have any existing branding designs / colours / words that can be incorporated into the production?

Do I require music or voiceover to help convey my message?

Where will my production end up being delivered? Will there be any technical concerns or limitations that need to be considered?

From an outsider’s point of view, it felt like VMP have a real team environment. Everyone pulls together to get a job done & has no hesitation in going ‘the extra mile’. Improvements… perhaps a footstool to go in front of the comfy couch in the edit suite – although clients may never want to leave!” The finished product – excellent!
