A Big Start to the New Year

With the New Year, Video Media has welcomed
some challenging and exciting new projects...
and we have another fabulous competition
with some quality bubbles to WIN!

Our last winner was Steve Cantrill from
QR Training and Development.
Hopefully he
enjoyed the hamper over the festive season!

Kim Walters Choices: Gala Fashion Parade

The annual Kim Walters Choices Gala Fashion Parade featured women beautiful and brave whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Video Media Productions was honoured to assist this high profile charity event. Over a thousand people were at The Greek Club and Convention Centre in support of the occasion, and the organisers are to be applauded for achieving an outstanding result.

Tradelink: Reality TV Series Sponsor: Hot House

Video Media recently assisted Western Australian advertising agency BBAM to produce a video for Tradelink, a major sponsor of Channel 10’s new reality series The Hot House. When Channel 10 brought the TV show release date forward one week, Video Media had only 2 weeks to create the 15 minute video informing 1800 Tradelink staff about their sponsorship of the innovative TV series. The show follows 14 couples as they design, and construct a $2 million house at Pacific Harbour, Bribie Island.

QLD Junior Rugby: Try Shane Webcke!

Video Media assisted Kert Crossan Creative to produce a television commercial starring Shane Webcke and referee Tim Mander. The TVC promotes ‘sign-on’ time and encourages junior players to have a go at Rugby League with the catchcry of...

“Fun, fitness, friends and family
– that’s what footy’s all about!”

Southbank Tafe: On The Big Screen

In association with Engine Creative, Video Media produced a Cinema Commercial for the Southbank TAFE Diploma of Multimedia. The commercial was a hit throughout Brisbane, showing during the Christmas season blockbuster films. It combined the work of TAFE students and a funky sound track all stitched together with massive 1828 x 988 pixel resolution by the Video Media experts.

Ithaca Iceworks:
Chilled Out Over Christmas

Established in 1926, Ithaca Ice Works, Brisbane’s oldest and largest ice supplier, has been flat out during the holiday season and Christmas Day was their busiest day ever. More than 820 tonnes of ice were delivered to more than 1500 sites in a 24-hour time frame! Video Media has produced a CD Rom promoting Ithaca Ice Works and showcasing its new state of the art cold storage facility at Hemmant. The complex can store up to 3000 pallets and runs at minus 25 degrees.

Russo Group Awards Night

On December 19 while most people were attending Christmas parties, the Video Media crew were busy filming the Russo Group Staff Awards Night at the Brisbane City Hall auditorium. Over 350 staff enjoyed pre-dinner drinks under the Christmas tree in King George Square and then continued the celebrations over a gourmet dinner followed by dancing to a live band. Video Media Productions captured the entire event with 3 cameras and projected edited images onto a big screen to add to the dynamic atmosphere.

What’s all the fuss about DIGITAL & WIDESCREEN (16:9) television?

Currently there is a mix of 4:3 and 16:9 analogue and digital programming available on Australian television. This is actually two different issues, one being widescreen and the other digital trasmission. Most new Australian programs, and television commercials and an increasing number of overseas programs are now produced in widescreen (16:9 as used for cinema), which is generally accepted to be more visually pleasing than the current television 4:3 standard.

By the year 2008 all programs will be broadcast as a digital signal only, so that the Australian standard will be improved picture and audio quality, additional channels, multi-camera views, on-screen programming and closed captioning. This also means you will need to buy either a new Digital TV, with the advantage of widescreen (16:9) or a Digital receiver. A Digital receiver connected to an existing analogue TV set allows you to receive and view digital television.

Competition:

To win a very cool bottle of Moet Chandon Champagne! Simply answer the following question from our story about Ithaca Iceworks:

How many tonnes of ice did Ithaca Iceworks deliver in a
